The West Plains Habitat for Humanity Re-Store is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from eight to five and Saturdays from nine to one. It’s on Porter Wagoner Blvd. in West Plains. They sell used building materials and take donations of the same. Call 417-256-1576.

Willow Springs Middle School will be holding a parent night for 8th grade on Thursday, August 28th at 6:00PM in Grimes Auditorium. All students and parents are encouraged to attend.
Region 8 Council on developmental disabilities will present a seminar on “Disaster Preparedness” on Friday, August 29th from 6-8PM at the Howell-Oregon Electric COOP located at 6327 N. Hwy 63 in West Plains. Door prizes will be given.

The Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce presents the 25th Annual Antique and Classic Car Show on Saturday, August 30th at the Mammoth Spring State Park. Entry Fee is $15.00. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies awarded, plus cash prizes. Gates open at 9:00AM and judging is at 1:00PM by M.A.A.C.C. Ozarks Medical Center will be offering a Prostate Screening on Friday, September 5th in the Shaw Medical Building. The screening will begin at 1pm and is on a first come basis. There is no need to call to make an appointment this year. Again the cost is $10.00 which you will pay the day of the screening.
The Mountain View Community Center will have a Standard Flower Show Friday, Sept. 5th from 2 to 6:30 and on Saturday, Sept. 6 from nine until noon. Horticulture entries must be received at the Community Center on Friday Sept. 5th from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Specimens must be fresh plant material grown by the exhibitor. There’s going to be a Co-ed softball benefit tournament to help defray medical expenses for Logan Berry, son of Pete and Sherry Berry of Mountain View, who has vasculitis Saturday, September 6th. Games will be begin at 4:00PM at the Mountain View Softball fields. There is a $100 entry fee per team. There will be a home run derby, concession, kid’s catch competition and airbrush tattoos. Koshkonong Heritage Day will be Saturday, September 13th. The day full of events start at 10:00AM with the Veteran’s Salute and end at 7:00PM with the Pony Pull. They will have a petting zoo, chicken chase, children’s peddle tractor pull and school sponsored booths and craft booths. The Ozarks Steam Engine Show is set for Sept. 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, gates open at 8 a.m. located 8 miles west of Springfield on Highway 60. Admission is $5 per person, children 12 and under free. Steam Engine, Antique Tractors, truck, and a Classic Tractor Pull is Friday night at 6 pm. An antique pre 1938 tractor pull is Saturday night at 6 pm. The Willow Springs Theatre Guild’s production of Cheaper by the Dozen is well underway. The part of adult Frank Gilbreth is still needed. It is a medium-sized narrative part. Also needed is the character of Miss Brill, a very proper school teacher of the Gilbreth children who has no love for them. The production dates are September 19, 20 and 21 at the Historic Star Theater in Willow Springs. Ticket prices are $5 in advance or $6 at the door for adults, and $3 in advance or $4 at the door for students.
The Harlin Museum of West Plains will host the 33rd Annual Fall Art Show September 30th through October 17th during regular museum hours.
